Greco "Gneco" Tele Blonde 1974 MIJ

GNECOTELE

Used

A fabulous relic from the early 70's! This Japan made Tele style guitar originates from the famous Fujigen factory!

The sound of this guitar blends the classic Tele "twang" with a certain softness that can only come from being played for 50 years. Plenty of vibe and mojo in this one!

It's no secret that during the seventies some of the good Japanese factories were capable of building better Fenders than Fender in America - which lead to the formation of Fender Japan.

The instrument itself is a really good replica of classic Tele. The bridge is so-called top loader and even has the "ashtray" pickup cover! Because it has the old "Gneco" logo, it was made before 1975, when Greco changed their logo. Also known as the golden "GNECO" age of 1972 to 1975.

Previous owner has at some point added a switch or pot under the pickguard and made a cavity in the body. The switch has now been removed, but there is a small hole in the pickguard where it used to be. The pickguard also has a "birdy" logo on it. Both pickups work perfectly. It has a strong and stable three-piece maple neck.

The "Gneco" Teles have a 24.75" scale length (nut-to-bridge), which is .75" shorter than a Fender-25.5" scale length. The blonde color can also be described as a "light mustard" or perhaps "TV yellow".  It plays and sound great.
